Green coffee prices have been on the rise since the beginning of this year. Climate-related issues in major producing countries, new tariff taxes on green coffee imports into the US and opportunistic financial speculators seeking profit on a suddenly hot commodity have all impacted what we're paying for greens.
In times of volatility, small business owners have to remain adaptable. Our importing friends have shared with us that more and more roasters are considering new origins, lower-scoring coffee, and even past-crop offerings to maintain their profit margins.
As a company that strives to provide solutions to specialty coffee roasters, we've leveraged our sourcing relationships and warehouse space to find affordable coffees that work well together in our newest blend: Shop Dog
Named for the sweetness and disposition of our own shop dog Pattie, Shop Dog is a consistent, reliable, and comforting two-component blend designed for multiple brew methods. It cups equally well at a medium or dark roast level. Like our popular Espresso and Cold Brew pre-blends, we're sharing all of the coffee information and reference roast profiles to help roasters dial it in on their systems.
Medium roasted, Shop Dog pops with the flavors of creamy cashews, cooked rhubarb, grapefruit, and shortbread. Taken to darker roast levels, you'll find root beer, bourbon, and dark chocolate carried on a heavy mouthfeel. Both roast levels brew well as a drip coffee that stands up to cream and sugar, as well as espressos served on their own or with steamed milk and syrups.
A good shop dog is something to treasure. We hope this blend provides stability and a bit of relief in turbulent times.
