In Our Roastery
As a coffee with a unique and sought after cup profile, Rwanda offerings may appear and dissapear quickly on importer's websites. We love this origin for its floral and tea-like flavors with deep sweetness and notes of stone fruit. When we first tasted this coffee, we knew if would be a great addition to our Toll Roasting menu as a light-roast single origin offering, perfect for a pour-over menu or a seasonal retail option.
In Your Lineup
Whether you roast it to a light or medium profile, this coffee will stand up very well. Lighter roasts will highlight notes of tea and florality with intense sweetness, while medium roasts will offer more chocolate and darker stone fruits like plum and cherry. For our roasted coffee menu, we're keeping it on the light side.
Many of our customers love coffees from Ethiopia, so this coffee offers them a chance to try something different from a different East Africa country. They'll find similarities to Ethiopia in this coffee's acidity and tannic quality, flavors that create a exciting profile. But the notes of red wine, black cherries, and hibiscus flowers make it unique, something different to share with customers and home brewers.

About
Microlots from Rwanda are traceable to the cooperative and washing-station level, and are selected on the basis of cup quality. These lots are separated out from the larger bulked day lots that the washing station produces, and represent the highest quality Rwandan offerings on our list.
Bordering Lake Kivu and the Nyugwe Forest, the Western Province of Rwanda is a very abundant and tropical area. The soil is a mixture of sandy and black humus at extreme elevations have allowed for small producers and washing stations to turn out specialty coffee at volumes that Rwanda has never seen before.
