This is more a review of the company than the 6 kg machine we bought but nothing but great things to say about the Mill City Roasters Team! My wife and I decided to finally purchase a production roaster for our coffee shops a few months back and the number one thing Mill City provides when you purchase from them is confidence. Confidence before you buy by taking Roasting Classes on site at Mill City Roasters. Lauren and Bryant, y’all are amazing and cannot thank you enough for the classes we took with you both! Confidence that when you have a question someone will actually pick up the phone and help. Twice I got the owner Steve who picked up my call and answered all my questions. I couldn’t believe it as all the other companies I called while researching roasters was a “leave a message and we’ll call you back” response. Not here. Someone picks up the phone and if they cannot help they will find you someone who can. After we decided to buy just watching their videos online on how to “un-pack” your crates when they arrive was so helpful. I literally just followed it step by step. Thank you for making that video btw. Actually their videos are the best out there too. All of them on youtube are worth watching. So thank you Mill City Roasters! Angie, Aziz, Nic, Lauren, Bryant, Steve and everyone I am forgetting who has and continues to help my wife and I grow our business, thank you. Y’all are the best!

We bought this roaster, but we unfortunately never got a chance to use it. So, this is going to be a review of Mill City Roasters in general rather than a review of this machine’s performance. That said, we looked at a lot of machines in this size class before deciding on this one and I can tell you the deciding factor was the PEOPLE at Mill City. There are dozens of machines that can effectively apply heat to beans and turn them brown and I have no doubt that after learning any particular machine, a skilled operator will produce outstanding coffee. The difference with Mill City is going to be found in their support and willingness to go above and beyond any expectations. The internet is full of stories about all builders, but the one constant seems to be the near universal praise for the character of the people at Mill City. Their commitment to education, to other’s successes, and service to the specialty coffee industry is rarely matched. Not to mention their roasters are also nearly universally praised by many very well respected roasters. That’s why we landed here.
This brings me to the fact that we never got to use our roaster. We purchased last year, and then ran into delay after delay, which combined with some personal challenges, we were forced to make the decision to abandon our plans for the roastery. Our brand new roaster sat there partially uncrated and unused. Steve Green helped and supported us the whole way in our efforts to sell the machine – he created a blog post to promote our listing, fed our name to potential buyers, and the eventual purchaser was pointed to us by Steve. Without his help we certainly wouldn’t have been able to move the roaster before our lease was up, or recoup a reasonable amount of our investment. I know everyone will work to take care of the new owner of our machine and I look forward to tasting the coffee they produce with it in the near future. – Mark, El Cap Coffee Co.
