Last week, coffee importers (and Mill City pals) Cafe Imports published a resource recommending coffees that may serve as good replacements to Brazil. The article "Blend Dilemma: Exploring Alternatives in the Face of Brazilian Tariffs", published on their blog, lists six countries from Latin America and India as potential alternatives to Brazil.
Brazil has historically been a popular and affordable green coffee option that's becoming increasingly difficult to source. Cafe Import's guidance on comparable coffees couldn't come at a better time. We carry several of their recommended origins on our green retail page, plus some they didn't mention.
Nicaragua Jinotega Finca Los Positos
This women-produced coffee is a big favorite for us right now. It's an all-day drinker with tons of chocolate and peanut notes. As a mild, approachable, and sweet Central American coffee, it's an easy replacement for Brazil.
Mexico Cristal
An origin blend of coffees grown across Mexico, Cristal has always been well known as an affordable offering and a supportive blending base. This season, Cristal is cupping at 84 points, and it's good enough to stand on its own as a single-origin. This is an incredible value coffee that's punching way above its weight.
Peru Cajamarca
As a regional select coffee, this is another great option for roasters who need a flexible do-anything coffee. It's fantastic in blends or on its own, and offers complex flavors like blackberry, almond, and cola.
Shop Dog Blend
We first launched this blend in the early Spring of 2025, when green coffee supply issues began to raise the C-Market price to unprecedented heights. Since then, it's become a popular budget blend that shines at medium and darker profiles. We like it on espresso or drip, where it provides the same notes of cocoa, dried fruit, and balanced acidity we love in coffees from Brazil. At $5.55/lb when you buy a 40-lb box, it's the most affordable coffee in our line-up.
Using Path Intelligence to Dial in New Origins
If you're swapping out one of your highest volume coffees, dialing in a new profile for an unfamiliar green may feel daunting. Path Intelligence, a new feature on RoastPATH, helps you find a great starting point for a new-to-you green coffee.
By entering the coffee origin and processing method, Path Intelligence scans thousands of profiles from users across the world, and provides you with a suggested roast profile that's customized with temperature targets for your roaster.
